Changeling

The Changeling is an extremely dynamic overdrive that is very, very loosely based on the classic TS808 circuit. There are however, many differences in The Changeling from a classic Tube Screamer. First, the input boost stage can reach up to 40dB with the 'BOOST' knob and can also be switched to give uneven transistor clipping with the 'GAMMA/ALPHA' selection switch. The op-amp stage consists of two types of clipping, soft and soft/hard, and can be controlled by using the 'GREAT LINK/HUMANOID' selection switch respectively. Soft clipping is similar to an original Tube Screamer, but soft/hard clipping combines treble boosting soft clipping with fuzzy hard clipping, lending itself to very unique textures and overdrive not typically heard in these types of ODs. All of this is exacerbated by the use of the input boost stage, which has the ability to super power the op amp gain stage. The tone control can sweep from treble boosting extremes to fuzziness and the volume knob can control the output from 0-45dB to really blast those preamp tubes.

The Changeling is named because of its ability to completely change tonal response based on the selection switches and external/internal potentiometer settings. The faceplate and name is obviously based on the Founders from DS9, Odo represent!
